The elbow rotation drill helps the swimmer get a feel for positioning the elbow while performing a high-elbow catch. It can also be a good indication of flexibility, and swimmers may need to regularly practice it in order to perform it well while swimming.
How to perform the drill:
Place your hand on the edge of the pool deck (or, if at home, a desk or table). Keep your hand stable while gently rotating your elbow from a downward position under the arm to on top of it.
